FUR FREE FOR GUCCI

With the rise of Veganism in the last decade, an awareness and care for animals has never been so mainstream. There is a care in my heart for the protection of animals however I could not be vegan. Some would say this is because I don't care enough but to me there are degrees of care. In my eyes, natural selection presented us with an ultimatum of survival of the fittest and this involves the food chain being something that is still apparent. However, there is no part of me that believes in the unnecessary killing of innocent animals for the vanity of humans just because we're on top. This is why I strongly support Gucci's decision to stop using fur in their garments.

Gucci has said the ban will take effect with its Spring/Summer 2018 collections and it has signed up to the Fur Free Alliance, an organisation that promises to end exploitation and killing of animals for fur. Brands such as Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and Armani already proud themselves on their fur-free collections. The Gucci fur loafer became a must have after it gained a lot of social media attention but I don't think the use of faux fur will hinder its popularity in sales.
